Explore Green Lake’s Biking Trails

One of the most popular biking trails in the area is the The Glacial Lake State Trail, which provides miles of excellent paved trails for exploring.  This beautiful trail, once a former Burlington Railroad line, is generally level and accessible for riders of all abilities.  Though the area has been largely developed over the years, you’ll still enjoy remnants virgin prairie, wetlands, and woodlots along the trail, and may even spot some whitetail deer, small mammals, birds, reptiles, and butterflies.  The paved trail runs for 22 miles, and connects the communities of Willmar, Spicer, New London, Hawick, and the Kandiyohi/Stearns County line.

Afterwards, continue your journey on beautiful country road 148, through the cattail marshes and fields, to Sibley State Park.  Once there, you can ride along the short trail to Observation Tower on Mount Tom, which, as the highest point in 50 miles, will give you a great view out over the beautiful lake country.  There are also 5 additional miles of biking trails to enjoy in the park, or you can choose to spend the rest of your afternoon enjoying the 5 lakes within the park itself, before heading back to Spicer for a delicious dinner at waterfront restaurant at Spicer Castle.  Book your room at our beautiful Bed and Breakfast today, and whisk yourself back in time to a place where life is reminiscent of a quieter and simpler time of life.
